Lead Presenter: Hajj Flemings, Founder and CEO of Brand Camp University + Rebrand Cities

Bio

In 2011, Hajj Flemings was one of eight entrepreneurs selected for the CNN’s Black in America 4: The New Promised Land: Silicon Valley documentary with Soledad O’Brien.

During the filming of that documentary, he came to understand the real meaning of the term ‘meritocracy’ and recognized that lack of access in the technology space was creating a permanent underclass in communities of color. That experience literally changed the course of his life.

Hajj is founder of Brand Camp University, an educational platform that is preparing people for the future of work.  In 2017 he launched Rebrand Cities a global civic design partnership with WordPress.com with the audacious goal to get 10,000 businesses online and eradicate the digital divide.

He has worked with clients including Walt Disney, AT&T, WordPress.com, Pitney Bowes, Pfizer, the Detroit Lions, and the U.S. Department of Defense, been an invited speaker at Harvard University, Iowa State University, University of Michigan—Ross School of Business, Davidson College,  and others, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, Mashable and CNN Tech Money on the subjects of startups, digital technology and branding.

I am the founder of Banj, a local entrepreneurship hub in Port-au-Prince. I’ve worked in international development for 8 years based in Port-au-Prince and in Washington, DC at the World Bank then with the Inter-American Development Bank. In 2010, I co-founded Groupe ECHO Haiti, an organization valorizing the potential of young adults in development in Haiti through which I created and lead several innovative projects including ELAN Haiti, a platform that brings together a community of students, young leaders and entrepreneurs from Haiti, its diaspora and the world focused on taking joint actions in Haiti. I am currently responsible for partnerships at the Haiti Tech Summit: The biggest international tech event in the history of the country. I am a proud One Young World ambassador and a Fulbrightscholar with an M.A in Financial Economic Policy from American University and a B.A in Applied Quantitative Economics from CTPEA. I enjoy traveling the world to learn and to share my passion about youth, entrepreneurship and innovation.
